Fits 2010-Current Volkswagen Passat, Jetta, Golf TDI with THREE (not FOUR) fuel line connections on the filter head.
This is a complete kit consisting of the filter head, mounting bracket, banjo fittings, clamps, nuts, washers, bolts, o-ring, and stainless steel filter wrench. The installation is straight-forward and can be accomplished by the average person with basic mechanic skills. The bracket is CNC cut from one piece steel and the filter head is machined from billet aluminum and anodized in a black, red, or blue finish. The kit is designed to use the 1-micron filter but will also work with the CAT 1R-0750 2-micron element if a more reasonably priced filter is desired. If a filter with a water drain is desired we also offer the Donaldson P553203. You can select your choice of filter at the bottom or select “none” if you want to provide your own filter. This contains the 3rd banjo fitting for cars with a FRPRV connecting to the filter housing. if you have a Jetta or Golf without this and you have FOUR lines going to your OEM fuel filter then just get our regular Uber kit for a MKV car.
For an additional charge the kit is available with 4 of the standard 8mm barb fittings to give you an extra port for a pressure gauge. It is also available with anodized -6AN fittings instead of the standard 8mm barb fittings for those customers running larger fuel lines.
How to connect the fuel lines- Connect fuel line from your tank to the inlet (outside small banjo) on the filter head. Connect FRPRV line to the larger 10mm banjo on the inet (outside of the filter head). Connect the line from the inlet of your HPFP to the outlet (center single fitting) of the filter head.

The Heart of the Uber Fuel Filter Kit – The One-Micron 100% Synthetic Microglass Filter Element
All fuel filters currently available are cellulose medium. Even the highest quality cellulose filters provide only marginal filtration when compared with a full microglass element. Additionally, cellulose filter elements are adversely affected by sub-freezing ambient temperatures. This is not the case with a full microglass element. It is not affected in any way by cold temperatures. Couple that with the fact that the best cellulose-blend filters are 2-micron and this 1-micron filter is a huge step in the evolution of filtering diesel fuel.
Enter the 1 Micron Nicktane Extreme-Duty 100% microglass element!
The filter element was developed using technology developed for the aerospace industry. One of the problems associated with a pure microglass element is that the glass medium can be delicate. When microglass is exposed to varying flow rates, the microglass can rupture at the points where the microglass is required to make sharp bends within the stainless steel support structure. When you have flown on an airliner and heard the landing gear “clunk up” in place, the hydraulic system was just exposed to a tremendous stress. This sort of stress would destroy the normal microglass filter element. Not the Nicktane Extreme-Duty. It can take this sort of stress in stride, again and again.
The Nicktane Extreme-Duty filter is manufactured using a proprietary technique which essentially “bends glass”, without creating a weak area in the filter medium. This gives the Nicktane Extreme-Duty filter a combination of robustness, and filtration efficiency unequalled in the aerospace and automotive industry. Additionally, the filter utilizes a proprietary microglass layering technique which enables the filter to provide significantly better filtering efficiency and dirt holding capacity than any filter currently available in the market.
Thus we have a filter technology that will provide diesel fuel filtration and flow world’s better than any currently available cellulose or cellulose/blend fuel filter.

The kit is a decent value for the cost, the bracket i received was warped and the welds were not smooth. There are also no instructions included with the kit, its easy enough to figure out where the lines go but instructions would be nicer.

Worked alright on my 2013 Passat TDI. The original fuel lines have bigger ends on the filter side so I took some fuel line I had and replaced the rail return line(hot one). Modified the feed line from the tank to fit the other smaller banjo. Used the third bigger banjo in the **center on the filter cap to feed the HPFP so I didn’t have to modify that line.
**Fuel is filtered from the outside of the filter to the middle**
The spanner provided didn’t hold up to the torque when tightening the bolts into the cap. Also had to use fuel resistant teflon tape to seal the doubled up banjos on the filter cap. There wasn’t enough clamping pressure to crush the very bottom copper washer and create a seal
It works but it wasn’t just plug and play

Ok—this kit is great! Not necessarily the sexiest, but great! Because it’s straight up, bare bones—what you need to get better than factory filtration with more commonly available diesel filters in the North American market. Over 3 times with a Donaldson P553203 (3 micron absolute with a water separator) to be exact—and that’s the lower end filter Nicktane offer, at a better than Amazon price too! 5 times better than factory 10 micron with a Cat 2 micron. And 20 times better with Nicktane’s own 0.5 micron filter! Currently, I’ve replaced the factory 10 micron for the Donaldson 3 micron, with the additional water separator. I plan to make that the primary filter, replaced every 10,000 miles—factory recommends 20,000 mile replacement for their 10 micron filter—and given the growing failures of the Bosch CP4 high pressure fuel pump leading to catastrophic failure requiring replacement of the ENTIRE fuel system, which would total my car, this fuel filter upgrade is essential! Unfortunately most diesel fuel available in the US is not filtered to the specifications of most fuel motors to date that use the Bosch CP4 pump. Lots of people are downgrading to the piston-designed version with the Bosch CP3, which is great for working vehicle—but the performance of a CP4 is ~10% better. This is significant for me, because I like burning “hippy” biodiesel with performance that would shame an ‘80s Mercedes 300D TurboDiesel. So, clearly, the way to go is add Opti-Lube’s XL, plus their Summer+Cetane—or Opti-Lube Cetane Boost and their Winter Antigel if you live below freezing—to your fuel to offset the lack of lubricity B20 or Diesel #2 has already with those API standards of last couple decades or so. And if the lack of lubricity in the fuel wasn’t enough (to grenade diesel in America, if you ask me—but that’s another story for another day) the fuel itself is NOT filtered well enough to get below the failure range of 4-7 microns over time, with fuel tolerances HIGHER than that known range! It’s enough to get to the best of us! Well, Nicktane’s got a kit to handle the filtration part of this struggle—and very reasonably priced too! Again, not the sexiest—but it’s exactly what you need to provide the awesome TDI motor the needed failure avoidance required if you care about your diesel motor. Now if someone could just get a disaster prevention kit for the single-cylinder Bosch CP4 on the 2.0L TDI, like S&S Diesel has for the Powerstroke 6.7L & 7.3L we will have solved the major failure points for these amazing motors that could easily do a half-million miles or more with “enthusiast” maintenance… Thanks, Nicktane for keeping me up with fuel filtration! Cheers!
